Practical details

The easiest way to apply for Conference 2007 is online - short stay, residential and day options are only available online.

When and where

  • The University of Warwick, Coventry CV4 7AL
  • Take a look at this webcam showing the Piazza.
  • We begin with Pre-Conference Shabbat which starts on Friday 21 December
  • Conference week runs from 9:30am on Sunday 23 December to mid-afternoon on Thursday 27 December
  • You'll be sent all the information you need so you can register smoothly when you arrive. Meanwhile, for more info, check back regularly at this site.

Getting there

The University of Warwick is near Coventry; the transport links are very good.

  • Driving – under a couple of hours from London and Manchester; there’s plenty of parking on campus. If you can offer, or need a lift, please visit our car pool forum.
  • Flying – the nearest airport is Birmingham International; East Midlands Airport is 30 minutes away, Luton Airport 80 minutes and Heathrow just over an hour and a half
  • Public transport – plenty of regular coach and train services run to the area from around the country
  • Share a coach – we'll hire coaches to run from various points around London and Manchester, subject to demand. Please tick the box on the application form to reserve a place (£20 each way); we need to know by 19 November if you want to reserve a place.  Also, see posting on car pool forum re a possible Saturday night coach.
  • It's a public holiday week – so no public transport operates on 25 December and limited services run on 26 December. So think about your travel arrangements in plenty of time

Shabbat

Our Pre-Conference Shabbat – 21 and 22 December - has a restricted number of places, so apply early. The Shabbat fee includes accommodation, a full programme and all meals from Friday lunchtime. As usual we will have an eruv (Shabbat boundary). Please note that there is no childcare over Shabbat but children are welcome. Find out more about Shabbat here.

Arrive in time for the start of Conference

If you want to catch Conference from the moment it starts on Sunday morning, it's a great idea to arrive on Saturday evening. For a small additional payment you can check in between 8:00pm and 10:00pm on Saturday 22 December.

Where shall I rest my weary head?

Conference is a community and there's no doubt you get more out of it if you stay on site – especially as the nearest hotel is some three miles away. There is a variety of accommodation choices:

  • single ensuite rooms
  • a limited number of lower-priced single and twin rooms with shared facilities
  • some hotel-style double rooms with bathrooms and televisions - sorry, but these are not available to families as they cannot be used by people under 18; also we may need to restrict availability to participants who are staying for the full week.
  • family accommodation – twin rooms next to each other, sharing facilities with one or two other families. We can provide cots for children under two – there’s a small hire charge; please bring your own cot linen

For more details on accommodation options visit our accommodation page.

I can't come for the whole week

  • You can be a short stay or day participant, and we even have some accommodation available if you are not coming for the full week
  • All bookings for short stay and day participants will need to be made online or by contacting the Limmud Office
  • Sorry – but we can't accommodate families for less than the week. We know from many families that youngsters benefit hugely from being part of Young Limmud Conference from start to finish and we'd urge you to make sure they don’t miss out on this experience.

I'm 16. Can I come to Conference alone?

If you’re 16 or 17 and you want to come without a parent or guardian please call the Limmud office for details.

Non-stop food

Look forward to non-stop nutritious and healthy food included in your Conference fee. After its success last year, Grab and Go lunches are here to stay. All efforts are being made this year to improve ethical sourcing whilst making sure meals are nutritious and enjoyable.

The standard menu will feature dairy and fish, with meat options if you are there for Shabbat. Vegan and vegetarian options are also available. All catering is supervised kosher. If you have particular dietary requirements, please use the application form to tell us.

Getting around Conference

  • We'll be providing on-campus transport for those with special mobility needs
