Accommodation

Where can I stay onsite – and what’s the accommodation like?
University accommodation has changed and improved over the years and Warwick offers us a high modern standard.

The accommodation houses are situation around the section of the campus being used for Limmud Conference, which is quite compact, so most will only have a 5 - 10 minute walk to the main social and dining areas and the longest walk would be no more than 15 minutes.

Most of the houses are two or three storeys – we do try to allocate the upper floors to the more agile, younger participants, leaving the lower floors for those not so comfortable with climbing stairs.

Rooms are allocated on first come first served basis – so book early.

All rooms have the following:

  • Plenty of space –light and airy.
  • Standard size single bed, wardrobe, ample drawer/cupboard space, desk, bedside table and bedside lamp.
  • Bed linen and towel
  • Plenty of electric sockets for charging phones, laptops, etc.
  • Central heating with radiators that can be independently controlled
  • Windows that open, so you can have some fresh air (if you wish)

There are three main types of accommodation available to Limmud Conference.

Standard single room – shared bathroom facilities.
Although the bathroom facilities are shared, each room has a wash hand basin.
There are ample bathroom facilities (choice of baths or showers) and numerous toilets on each floor.

Single ensuite rooms
All of these rooms have an ensuite bathroom comprising bath and/or shower, toilet and wash basin.

Hotel style double rooms
Warwick University has its own dedicated Conference area, which is where the only rooms for double occupancy are located.

These rooms are large and comfortable as you would expect in a superior three star star hotel. Each room has one standard double bed, ensuite facilities and televison. Although the accommodation is hotel standard, they are not serviced during Limmud Conference.

Disabled Access
Most accommodation houses have facilities for participants with any disabilities – i.e. rooms for wheelchair users, walk in showers, special arrangements for the hearing impaired.  The rooms are limited, so it is important that you let us know if you have any special requirement to enable us to accommodate you in a room most suitable for your needs.

Family accommodation
Family accommodation is in the Scarman Building - these are all en-suite rooms with double beds. Unfortunately there are no inter-connecting rooms available, but your rooms will be adjacent to each other. You will be allocated one room for every two people in your party – i.e. a family of three or four will get two double rooms, a family of five will get three, etc. Please note that children under the age of 16 months will not be allocated their own room and will need a travel cot which can be hired from Limmud if you require.

We understand that some parents would still prefer a child to be accommodated with them even if they are older than 16 months; in these cases you may want to bring an airbed with you - you will still be allocated two rooms (in order to that we comply with Warwick’s fire regulations and occupancy limits) and you can use the bedding from that room.

In other cases, families may prefer that their children do not share a room/double bed, or a single parent with an older child may not want to share. If you require additional rooms, these can be requested for a nominal surcharge of £80 subject to availability.

If you have any further questions, please email conf09-families@limmud.org

Credit card charge

Limmud is charged a fee equal to around 3% of the transaction amount for each time participants apply using a credit card.  Our £10 charge is an attempt to cover this cost. We would encourage applications by debit card where possible as we are charged a much smaller flat fee (around 60p) which we do not need to pass on.

Cancelling

To cancel an event booking for all or any member(s) of your party, you must notify Limmud in writing (either by post or by email to office[at]limmud.org). As costs will have been incurred by Limmud on your behalf to ensure your booking is secure, cancellation fees will be deducted from any refund that Limmud agrees to make. The following cancellation fees will apply:
  • Written notice of cancellation received by Limmud up to 23 November – £30 per adult
  • Written notice of cancellation received by Limmud up to 7 December – £50 per adult
  • Any cancellation later than 21 days before start of event – Limmud is unable to refund any of the fees, as it will have committed to full expenditure for my place.
