A friend just sent me an article about how men are stepping back and becoming more passive in Jewish affairs, mainly because they are lacking male-bonding experiences. Wednesday evening, Cafe Limmud, catching up with friends. Someone sets off an alarm, which persists annoyingly. A nearby group of Limmudnikim start harmonising with its tone, then humming, singing (the fire alarm blues, or what?)evolving into the most amazing jamming session. Others nearby draw closer, join in. I am transfixed and miss the whole Gala, but it's worth it.
I had plenty of great Limmud moments at Conference, and this was definitely one of the best.
