We are saddened to report the untimely passing of our team member Susie Robinson. In the few years we have known her, she endeared herself to us with her enthusiasm, quirkiness, warmth and humour. We will miss her greatly.

History of Limmud Scotland

Limmud Scotland was formed in November 2000 by a band of enthusiasts who had enjoyed Conference so much that they felt they should bring Limmud to Scotland.

We began modestly with a Limmud Katan - 4 evening sessions in November 2000, and this led to our first Scotland Day Limmud - A Day of Discovery - in February 2002.

Our second Day Limmud - Take Another Step - took place in September 2003. By this time we were becoming a household name and in 2004 we were approached to take part in J-Fest - a month-long cross-communal cultural festival. We responded by putting on a Mini-Limmud - a sell-out evening event

November 2005 saw our first Limmud weekend - Windows of Opportunity - with an Oneg Shabbat on the Friday night, a Shabbat morning Kiddush with a speaker in every synagogue in Scotland, a play from Israel on the Saturday night, and our 3rd Limmud Day on the Sunday.

We have also run two very successful coach tours - A Glasgow Jewish Journey - and published a reminiscence booklet "Glasgow Jewish Journeys".
