Join us on an overnight hike or cycle the Thursday before Limmudfest, which will return to the Fest08 site on Friday. Tikkun Trek is a unique opportunity to simultaneously enjoy the beauty of the Peak District, raise money for Tikkun Trek charities and activiely learn. You will be challenged and entertained with sessions on environmental issues, social justice and international development, renewed by the great outdoors and have the chance to bond with fellow 'trekkers' before the rest of Fest08 begins.
Tikkun Trek is a great opportunity to raise money - we aim to raise £4,00 to split between the New Israel Fund and Tzedek. We ask all participants to get sponsorship using this website and also we open the doors to a Trek fundraising party on August 13th from 8pm at Chapel Bar, Islington - please confirm you attendance using justgiving with a suggested minimal donation of £6.
This year for the first time Tikkun Trek will be family friendly. We will be creating a special family route for those with children under the age of 5, suitable for those carrying babies on their backs and for bikes with trailers. Please note that places for family Tikkun Trek will be limited so that we can provide a safe and enjoyable experience.
We will leave Cliff College at lunchtime on Thursday 21 August to explore the woodlands of the Peak District National Park either cycling or on foot in small supervised groups and meeting the other Tikkun Trek groups to camp together overnight. On Friday, we pack up camp and make our way back to Cliff College in time to greet and share our
experiences with those arriving for the rest of Limmudfest.
We aim to make Tikkun Trek as accessible for all as possible. See www.limmud.org/fest for details of our two tracks - cycling and hiking - and to check that your chosen Trek is appropriate for your level of fitness. The Peak District is a hilly area - so please do be prepared for a certain degree of physical exertion whichever choice you make! Young people are welcome on Tikkun Trek. However under-18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
You can either bring your own bicycle or tent (there will even be places on the coach for bikes) or hire them from Limmudfest. We aim to make Tikkun Trek as accessible for all - speak to us if you have special requirements.
