Made by You - Volunteering

Limmud Festival is made possible by the efforts of hundreds of volunteers, without whom the event wouldn't exist. It’s an event that doesn’t just happen - it is made by you. If you'd like to get involved with organising Limmud Festival 2017, we'd love to have you join us! Just get in touch.

Pre-Festival and other roles

There is a lot to do in the run up to Limmud Festival! If you are keen to get involved please contact the Volunteers team

At Festival

There are two ways you can be involved on Limmud Festival itself: the Yad scheme and Volunteering.

What is a Yad?

A new event name means a new look for the Conference Maker scheme. The Yad ('helping hand') scheme is aimed at Limmud Festival participants who wish to volunteer their time to help make Festival happen.

As a Yad, you will meet lots of new people, develop new skills and contribute to the Festival experience. In addition, Yads benefit from paying a reduced rate to attend. If you opt to come as a Yad, you can choose between contributing 10 or 20 hours of your time over the duration of Limmud Festival. Contributing 10 hours gives you a £100 discount from your place and contributing 20 hours gives you a £200 discount. If you are coming for Shabbat, you can also opt to be a "Shabbat Yad" (6 hours over Friday and Shabbat) and receive a £60 discount.

What does being a Yad require?

Enthusiasm, commitment, and a desire to get involved in making Limmud Festival special experience for all participants. There will be a pre-Festival event, which is your chance to meet other Yads on your team and to prepare for your role.

The full Yad terms and conditions can be read here.

Alternatively, if you have a spare hour or two on Festival and want to lend a hand, just pop into the Volunteer's hub and there will be someone there who can find a way you can contribute. Our entire festival is made by you and we rely on the efforts, big and small, that all of our participants make to create this vibrant community - thank you in advance for making that possible!

Hillel says, "If I am not for myself, who will be for me? But if I am only for myself, what am I? If not now, when?" (Pirkei Avot 1:14)

Please let us know what you are interested in, any skills or talents you may have, or any spare time you may want to dedicate to the Limmud Community at Festival.
