The following team role descriptions outline the responsibilities, skills, experiences, and output expected of the Limmud UK Executive Teams that we’re recruiting for
It is not expected that each person on the team will have all the skills and experiences listed below, rather it is expected that the team as whole will have the necessary experiences.
Marketing & Communications
This team will be responsible for working with the office to team to create a year round marketing and communications strategy for Limmud in the UK, as well as supporting event teams to promote their events and liaising with press.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Limmud UK Trustees, Executive, and volunteer teams to promote the work of Limmud UK
- Develop and implement Limmud’s UK marketing and communications strategy, to be presented annually to the Trustee Board for approval
- Advise on and sign off Limmud UK Trustee, Executive, and event team communications and marketing materials, ensuring they are in line with marketing and branding guidelines and policies
- Review event team marketing and communications plans, ensuring that they fit within the wider organisational strategy
- Work with the office team to ensure the Limmud UK website, email communications and social media are produced in line with overarching strategy
- Develop and maintain relationships with journalists from both Jewish and non-Jewish press, thereby ensuring that Limmud UK has regular press coverage
- Promote global Limmud news and events as agreed with the global Limmud entity and in line with Limmud UK strategy
- Implement monitoring and analysis processes to help us learn how best to communicate with participants and volunteers
Skills & Experience:
- Development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies
- Experience of working with journalists and media training
- Social media and website management skills
- Monitoring and reporting of metrics
- Content gathering, copywriting, and editing
- Knowledge and development of marketing and communications related policies and guidance
Expected Output:

Events
This team will be responsible for working with the office team to support event teams with logistics and guidance, as well as making sure all UK events are sustainable, diverse and accessible.
Responsibilities:
- Further develop existing Limmud events, with a focus on making Limmud events in the UK bigger and better!
- Think creatively about new Limmud events and offer support to volunteers to bring their ideas to life
- Ensure new UK teams are properly inducted and have the resources necessary to run successful events in line with the Limmud values for participants of all ages
- Work with other Limmud UK Executive teams to produce one-off and regular events, including those with partners
- Establish handover processes for event teams to make sure that experiences and information get passed on
- Develop role descriptions and guidance for event team volunteers, alongside the Limmud UK Executive Volunteers Team
- Produce and support the use of event-related guidance, policies, and templates as appropriate (including risk assessments and major incident plans)
- Explore how Limmud events in the UK can become more sustainable, diverse and accessible
Skills & Experience:
- Experience of running in-person or online events, including Limmud events in the UK
- Major incident planning and response
- Working with partners and volunteers
Expected Output:
- A diverse calendar of Limmud events (annually)
- Induction pack and process for new Limmud communities and events in the UK
- Event-related guidance, policies, tools and templates
- Event handover processes and documentation
- Major incidents handbook, templates, and guidance
Volunteers
This team will be responsible for working with the office team to develop and deliver volunteer training, development and welfare, as well as growing and strengthening the community of Limmud volunteers in the UK.
Responsibilities:
- Continue to grow our community of Limmud volunteers in the UK by developing clear pathways for Limmudniks who want to take one step further on their Jewish journey
- Manage incoming queries from Limmudniks interested in getting more involved, helping to identify appropriate roles for them
- Provide a programme of mentoring and support for volunteers at all levels of the organisation, including wellbeing support and development opportunities
- Regular communications with Limmud volunteers in the UK
- Organise training and social events for Limmud volunteers throughout the year
- Develop role descriptions and guidance for event team volunteers, alongside the Limmud UK Executive Events Team
- Produce and implement volunteer related policies, guidance, templates and tools
- Develop processes to regularly gather and act on feedback from volunteers (particularly those in key event-based roles)
- Create and maintain an up to date database of the volunteers involved with Limmud in the UK (not limited to currently active volunteers)
- Develop joint volunteer opportunities and training with the global Limmud entity as appropriate and in line with the Limmud UK strategy
- Explore how volunteering at Limmud events can be greater part of every participant experience and ensure that the volunteer-led nature of Limmud events is widely understood
Skills & Experience:
- Development and implementation of recruitment strategies
- Creation and implementation of social and training programmes
- An understanding of how volunteering is a core Limmud value
Expected Output:
- Development and implementation of a recruitment and retention strategy (annual)

Programming & Jewish Content
This team will be responsible for working with the office team to support UK event teams to curate diverse, high quality learning experiences, as well as building and developing relationships with presenters and partnership organisations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure Jewish content is at the heart of Limmud’s UK output, in line with the Limmud values
- Review proposed presenters and sessions from event teams, ensuring they are wide-ranging, reflect Limmud’s values, and make suggestions as appropriate
- Build, develop and maintain relationships with presenters, partner organisations and other Limmud teams around the world
- Work with programming advisory committee to advise event teams and support them with queries
- Ensure quality programming is provided for participants of all ages and at every step of their Jewish journey
- Identify opportunities for Limmud to produce Jewish content that will reach different audiences outside of event spaces
- Work with the Events team to produce one-off or regular events, potentially with partners
- Produce tools and guidance related to programming as necessary
- Explore how event presenters can be treated more equitably
- Explore how programming at Limmud events in the UK could be more diverse and representative
Skills & Experience:
- Interest in and/or knowledge of areas covered by Limmud programming
- Relationship management (e.g. presenters and partners)
- Event programming experience (does not have to be Limmud-based)
- A good understanding of how Limmud’s values can and should be applied to programming

Finance & Legal
This team will be responsible for working with the office team and Trustees to develop and manage the budget and organisational contracts for Limmud in the UK, as well as supporting Limmud event teams with their budgeting and legal responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Creation, oversight and administration of the UK budget, working closely with the organisation’s Treasurer (Trustee level)
- Oversight and approval of all UK event budgets, feeding into the central budget
- Provide support to the Limmud Office and Treasurer ahead of the annual audit
- Support event teams with pricing and budgeting, providing tools and templates as necessary
- Ensure UK organisational and event-related contracts are negotiated appropriately, including involvement in the tender processes
- Manage contracts and agreements with event-related and organisational service providers
- Approve volunteer expense claims in a timely manner
- Manage and respond to complaints in line with complaints policy
- Provide support and advice with regards to data protection legislation
- Produce financial and legal guidance, policies, templates, and tools
Skills & Experience:
- Financial and/or legal knowledge and experience
- Budget development and management experience
- Negotiating and managing contracts with service providers
- Knowledge of data protection legislation (inc. GDPR)
Expected Output:
