The Trustee Board is the governing body of Limmud. It is responsible for the governance, stewardship and long-term strategy of the organisation, and has ultimate decision-making authority. The Trustee Board constitutes the formal legal entity of the organisation.
Alan Silman
Alan Silman has been an enthusiastic ‘Limmudnik’ for several years both as an attendee and presenter. He is also currently President of B’nai B’rith Cheshire and has led Jewish heritage and awareness tours to several countries in Europe and in Asia. He has spent his career in medical research, he was the Medical Director of the charity Arthritis Research UK, and is currently Professor of Health at Oxford University.
Andrew Cohen, Treasurer
Andrew discovered Limmud some years ago and was immediately struck by Limmud’s inclusive and accessible approach to lifelong Jewish learning and has been an enthusiastic Limmudnik ever since. Andrew is a qualified accountant and, before retiring in 2022, had worked extensively in financial services.
Benjamin Ellis, Chair of Trustees
Benjamin co-founded and is former chair of KeshetUK, working for a world where no one is forced to choose between their Jewish and LGBT+ identity. After studying at Yeshivat Har Etzion, he studied at Cambridge University and University College London medical school, then public health at Johns Hopkins University in the USA. A consultant rheumatologist at Imperial College Healthcare, and also Clinical Director for Outpatient Transformation, Benjamin has a particular interest supporting people with chronic pain, and has been made an honorary member of the British Pain Society and the Faculty of Public Health. His voluntary work includes teaching on the prestigious Senior Faith Leadership Programme at Windsor Castle, and as a Trustee for the Phoenix Cinema in East Finchley and at Orthopaedic Research UK. Benjamin is a cycling commuter, a choral singer, and an enthusiastic cook. In the 2024 New Years Honours List he received an MBE for services to Healthcare, to Equality and to the Jewish Community.
Eve Jackson
Eve Jackson is a proud self-described Limmudnik, having attended her first national Limmud at 16. She has since volunteered in Young and Teen Limmud, the bar, programming strands…the list goes on. Outside of Limmud, Eve is a civil servant, specialising in social policy and with a particular passion for community policy.

Natan Tiefenbrun
After working for UJS as a sabbatical officer, Natan attended his first Limmud in 1993 as Chair of Programming. Since then he has attended many Limmud events including as Conference Chair in 1994, as Co-Chair of Limmud from 1996–2000, and more recently as a regular participant waiting to be asked to volunteer again. Professionally Natan works in financial services.
Simon Colton
Simon has been coming to Limmud Festival with his family regularly for the past few years. He is a commercial barrister and part-time judge dealing with both family and commercial matters. Simon has extensive experience working for various professional regulators on complaints and conduct issues.
Wendy Skolnick
Wendy Skolnick is a new trustee for Limmud. Her first Limmud was many moons ago at Carmel College. Since then she has participated in many Limmud events and was one of the co- founders of Family Limmud. She is also a trustee of a Community Foundation. Professionally Wendy has had a career as a litigation partner in City law firms and is trained as a mediator.
Yehudis Fletcher
Yehudis Fletcher loves the concept and possibility that is Limmud. She attended her first Limmud event in 2015 and got stuck right in. She has presented, organised, and generally advocated for the return of the chocolate digestive ever since. Professionally, Yehudis runs Nahamu, a think tank addressing ideologically motivated harm in her Charedi community.
