Limmud Bristol and South West is happening on Sunday 19 June, from 9.30am to 6pm in Bristol City Centre. Places are limited, so book your place now to guarantee your day of Jewish discovery.

Our celebration of Jewish life in the South West of England will be a diverse jamboree of learning, art, culture and history, with dozens of sessions to choose from, alongside plenty of opportunities for community building, networking, and socialising.
Just some of the outstanding presenters you can expect to see :
- Nathan Abrams, professor of film at Bangor University, on legendary director Stanley Kubrik’s New York Jewish influences.
- Daniel Cainer, performer and award-winning musician, with his unique mix of music, comedy, and story-telling.
- Marc Frank, therapist and mental health worker, with a series of meditations on the mystics’ message that “Everything is one”.
- Edie Friedman, director of Jewish Council for Racial Equality, on the Jewish community’s response to Black Lives Matter.
- Keith Kahn-Harris, who runs the European Jewish Research Archive, asks ‘what does a Jew look like?’.
- Clive Lawton, Limmud co-founder, CEO of Commonwealth Jewish Council, scholar in residence at JW3 on ‘Text or texting? What should Jews be good at in the 21st century?
- Monique Mayer, rabbi of Bristol & West Progressive, on the impact of COVID-19.
- John Minkes, trustee of the Jewish History Association of South Wales, on voices and images of the welsh Jewish community.
- Michal Nahman, UWE Bristol senior lecturer, on the Mizrachi Food Project, an anthropology of food cultures, memories and ‘un/belonging’.
- Joanna Phillips, trustee of Babel’s Blessing grassroots language school, offers a taste of the Queer Yeshiva.
- Izzy Posen, educator on the chassidic community, on a chassidic cultural rennaissance.
- Sybil Sheridan, rabbi of Newcastle Reform Synagogue, on African Jewish lives.
- Michael Singer, professor of environmental science at Cardiff University, on East Africa’s dependence on seasonal rainfall, from a perspective of Tikkun Olam.
- Ruth Stone, yoga teacher and therapist, with the ‘Dances of Universal Peace’ dance circle.
- Lindsey Taylor-Guthartz, rabba and Manchester University research fellow, explores gender roles in Orthodox Judaism.
- David Tollerton, associate professor of humanities at University of Exeter, on public Holocaust memorialisation in Britain.
- Dave Weltman, NHS mental health worker, on his family’s history as members of the famous ‘Bielski Brothers’ partisans.
- Richard White, lecturer, artist and researcher at Bath Spa University, and Lorna Brunstein, multimedia artist, exploring inherited Holocaust trauma as creative practice.
