Limmud Festival is a great place for families, with catering, childcare, entertainment and accommodation included!
Our Programme
All programming for families will take place in the Hilton Metropole Hotel, alongside the programme for adults.
Shabbat
Over Shabbat there will be sessions and activities suitable for families to enjoy together and facilities for children to relax, play and meet new friends under the supervision of their parents (there is no childcare over Shabbat).
Daytime Programme for children
From Sunday morning onwards, parents can spend the day exploring the wider Festival programme, happy in the knowledge that their children are being inspired by our early years practitioners and madrichim (young leaders) who will guide them through an exciting, interactive timetable during the day.
The crèche is a childcare space run by qualified early years practitioners for babies from 6 months old, toddlers and pre school-aged children aged up to 4. The crèche runs at set times from the Sunday to Wednesday of Festival. Parents remain responsible for their children outside of these hours, and younger children will need to be collected at certain times (such as for lunch).
Young and Teen Limmud programmes run during the day from Sunday to Wednesday morning.
Young Limmud – the Young Limmud Programme is for children in Reception Class (aged 4 or 5) to School Year 8 (aged 12 to 13).
Young Limmud will once again be led by our fantastic madrichim, with a packed programme of activities, sessions run by Limmud presenters and games, giving participants the opportunity to be involved in a Limmud tailored to them!
New for this year, participants will also work together on a special collaborative project throughout Young Limmud, creating or building something that will be displayed and shared with the wider Limmud Festival community.
Teen Limmud – a programme for young people in Year 9 (aged 13 to 14) up to Year 13 (aged 17 to 18).
Alongside the usual social programme and opportunities to connect with friends, Teen Limmud is introducing a brand-new Hadracha (Leadership) Programme. Teens will have the chance to develop practical leadership skills, gain insight into how Limmud works behind the scenes and take an active role in helping to shape their Limmud experience. The programme is designed to give participants the opportunity to make a lasting impact on this year’s Limmud and contribute to its future development, while still enjoying all the social and community aspects that make Teen Limmud so special.
Late Afternoon Family Activities
Organised activities for children to do with their parents or carers.
The Family Lounge will be open for you to hang out and play with other families at various times. There are a range of activities for parents to bring children to during the late afternoons until bedtime.
Evening Arrangements
Hallway Hub is a child-listening service on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings (around 7:30 pm-10:30 pm) for children aged up to 9. Our volunteers provide a listening service for settled-in-bed and sleeping children. Our volunteer listeners will contact the parents/guardians to come and resettle their child if they wake up; hence, parents must remain contactable and return promptly if required. Our volunteer listeners do not go into the rooms. Volunteers are also present to support your children in case of an emergency/evacuation. To opt for this service, please ensure you tick this on your registration in the parental consent form, as the baby/child listening will only take place in specific corridors in the Hilton Metropole Hotel. Places are limited, so please register early to avoid disappointment.
After dinner, children in School Years 5 (aged 9 to 10) to 8 (aged 12 to 13) have their own programme of enjoyable evening activities organised by the madrichim, while their parents enjoy the Limmud Festival evening programme.
Important Information
How to register for the Crèche, Young or Teen Limmud programmes
All children with residential places at Limmud (i.e. arriving Friday, Saturday evening or Sunday) are automatically added to the relevant programme for their age group. Non-residential children attending Limmud Festival from Friday, Saturday or Sunday to Wednesday can also attend the Limmud programme appropriate for their age.
Can a young person attend for one or two days?
We cannot offer Crèche or YTL programming for children who are not attending the full programme from Sunday to Wednesday. Teens aged 15+ can come as non-residents for one or two days, but must join the main programme.
Infants under 12 months
If you have a baby under 12 months who will not require a place in the crèche (i.e. the infant will be with their parents at all times), they can attend free of charge. Please contact office@limmud.org for more information on how to book.
Can a teenager come to Limmud Festival on their own?
Teens aged 16+ can come to Limmud Festival on their own, but must have an appointed guardian on site. All children under 16 must be with their legal guardian. Please contact the office@limmud.org for more information on how to book.
Child Safety
Child safety is important to Limmud. We ask that parents and guardians help us by reading and signing up to our Parental Agreement. The declaration, which must be accepted for each child, is included within the parental consent form at registration.
Children with Additional Needs
If your child has additional needs, please also contact the Limmud office, office@limmud.org, to discuss whether we are able to make suitable arrangements for your child.
