Welcoming Families to Festival
Every year at Festival, families make up a vital part of the event. Children are the future of Limmud and we love seeing them around the site, whether they be enthusiastically taking part in the Young & Teen Limmud programme with their Madrichim (youth leaders), crawling around the bar, or attending sessions after hours with their parents. Coming to Festival with your children is a great way to get a balance of quality time together and apart, and share in meaningful Jewish experiences. If you have any questions about coming to Festival as a family, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our Limmud Office.
We are excited to announce a very limited trial of short-stay places for families this year. Come and get a taste of Festival by booking for Sunday-Tuesday, or Tuesday-Thursday.

Short-stay places must be booked through the Limmud office and cannot be made online. Short-stay places are expected to sell out quickly so do not delay booking, call the office now on +44 (0)20 3115 1620.
- We have limited accommodation available so you may not get the perfect rooming set up for your family, but we will do our best.
- For nursery, Sunday-Tuesday includes Tuesday morning, and Tuesday-Thursday includes Tuesday afternoon.
- For YTL, Sunday-Tuesday includes all day Tuesday, and Tuesday-Thursday includes Wednesday and Thursday morning, but not Tuesday as it is too disruptive to change the groups in the middle of the day.
Families accommodation is based in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, for those with children aged 12 and younger. This hotel is thoughtfully set up for families by our team, with easy access to the Families Dining Room and the nursery. This year we look forward to running special families programming, chanukah celebrations, arts and crafts activities, and providing Festival’s youngest participants with a Jewish library just for them.
Families whose children are all above the age of 12 will this year have the option to book other accommodation options at Festival.
As in previous years, our wonderful Limmud Nursery will be run by experienced nursery staff each day, looking after children from 3 months up to 4 years old. Our professional nursery staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure each child settles well and is individually cared for.
Some of our exciting families presenters will also be popping in from time to time to run exciting sessions for the Limmud Nursery. If you have any more questions or would like to run an activity for the nursery or for the families programme this year, please do get in touch. Spaces in the nursery are limited so do book early to make sure you get a place.
Young and Teen Limmud
Young and Teen Limmud (YTL) is the Limmud programme for children and teenagers. Parents drop off their children at YTL in the morning and pick them up in the late afternoon. During the day, the children and teens learn from Limmud presenters on a variety of topics and take part in crafts, music, dance and drama sessions run by their Madrichim (leaders).
For Teens (school year 7+), there is an exciting programme designed to give a Limmud Festival experience uniquely catered for their interests. Every year parents and children both agree that YTL is a great experience, so come and find out for yourself!
The families programme runs each day after the nursery and Young & Teen Limmud has finished, with a variety of sessions for the whole family. Our aim this year is to give families choices about what type of sessions they wish to do, and where – with options in both the Crowne Plaza and the Hilton. There will be a mix of storytelling, creative activities, music, text study, kef (fun) and more – helping to build those memories that will create Limmudniks for generations to come!
We look forward to sharing the magic of Chanukah candle lighting with families this year. Each night, we will be joined by a different headline presenter, who will lead us in lighting candles and an activity.
For children who are 7 and older (Year 3+) we have a fantastic ‘night club’ running each evening. These fun evening sessions offer kids the opportunity to explore different activities in a relaxed sociable environment. Night club is facilitated by madrichim, so parents can enjoy the rest of the Festival programme, confident their children are happy and engaged!
For children aged 11 or under, ‘baby listening’ will be offered in the Crowne Plaza hotel each evening from Sunday – Wednesday. Volunteers will be stationed outside bedrooms and will call you if your child/ren become unsettled. This gives parents the opportunity to go and enjoy the amazing evening programme, knowing their children are safely tucked up in bed. We’ll ask that one parent from each family who wishes to use this service sign up to cover one baby listening shift on Festival.
Babies at Festival
We try to think of the small details to make Festival as accessible as possible for those coming with our smallest participants. At both sites, there is a fridge for breast milk and a hot water urn for formula (and tea/coffee to keep the adults awake after those late nights at Festival!) We ask that those who can bring a travel cot, but if you can’t, we can provide one for you. There will be baby food, and of course high chairs, available at family dining.
Children with additional needs at Festival
One of Limmud’s core values is diversity. We value accessibility, and aim to be accessible to all. If your child has additional needs, please detail what support they need on your registration form, and one of our welfare officers will be in touch close to the event to discuss how we can help. Both the Crowne Plaza and the Hilton are accessible hotels with lifts and ramps. Limmud is run by volunteers, and we often have fantastic volunteers who are keen to work with children with additional needs, to enable them to access the Young & Teen Limmud programme and have a great time at Festival.
We take safeguarding very seriously at Limmud. The Families team has a trained Designated Safeguarding Lead and Welfare Officer who works with young people professionally. All of the volunteers who come into contact with young people at nursery, night club, Young & Teen Limmud and baby listening have been CRB checked and safeguarding trained. We make sure that adult-child ratios are appropriate at all times.
