Purpose and vision
The Executive Committee is the public-facing leadership of Limmud in the UK. The Executive Committee is responsible for planning and executing Limmud events in the UK, and the recruitment, training and support of volunteers who are involved with Limmud in the UK.
As described in the structural review, going forward the Executive Committee and Trustee Board will be dedicated to supporting Limmud initiatives in the UK. Global participants will always be welcome and encouraged to attend and volunteer at Limmud events in the UK.
The immediate purpose of the Executive Committee is to manage the operations of Limmud events in the UK as the organisation transitions into the new, recommended structure. In the long-term, the Executive Committee will guide Limmud in the UK on its next steps, and ensure that Limmud in the UK continues to develop, innovate and inspire for the next 40 years and beyond.
2021 provides Limmud with many opportunities to learn from the experiences of 2020, look back at the last 40 years of the organisation, and ensure Limmud in the UK continues from strength to strength. Our short-term goals and long-term strategy will be driven by our volunteer teams, but our priorities over the next few years will include:
- Transparency & Flexibility – Ensure Limmud’s structure is clear and provide flexible pathways to get involved at all levels of the organisation
- Volunteer Recruitment, Support & Development – Empower volunteers by providing high quality mentoring, training and development opportunities; Provide a nurturing environment by enhancing welfare support and celebrating our shared successes
- Participation & Accessibility – Grow the number of people attending UK Limmud events; Make UK Limmud events accessible to all – financially, physically and ideologically; Develop new ways for people to engage with Limmud, including new and exciting partnerships with other communal organisations
- Innovation, Technology & Sustainability – Learn from our experiences of online events during 2020 so Limmud continues to be at the forefront of creative and innovative Jewish education and community building; Ensure Limmud in the UK makes the best use of technology, processes and insights so we can make informed decisions and demonstrate Limmud’s impact; Help all UK events minimise their environmental impact
