I’m delighted to report back that Limmud Connect, our first global volunteer forum, was a resounding success. Some 150 volunteers from 50 Limmud communities and 25 countries from round the world gathered for an extremely enjoyable and stimulating few days in Israel.

We used the three touchstones of: connect, learn, vision, which very much sum up the experience. From Jewish Bollywood dancing to Talmudic tales of travel, from Klezmer jass-fusion to robotics and the genetic future of humanity, there was a whole range of learning on offer. The power of the global Limmud network could really be felt in the connections that were developed between Limmud volunteers. And there was some really useful thinking about future Limmud projects – and a chance to discuss what we, both as individual communities and through the international organisation, can do to support each other. Volunteers Wanted

One topic that came up several times during discussions at the Forum was how to get involved in the wider Limmud organisation. We plan to get more information about this on the Limmud website over the next few months.

One particular opportunity is that we are looking for volunteers to help organise volunteer training and mentoring, including training events and visits. We already have a team lead by Shana Boltin, which we are looking to expand. If you would like to help, or to find out more, please email Shana.
